Company profile: The Green Horse Ranch is a German operated horse ranch, located at the bottom of an ancient volcanic crater and nature reserve, about 15 miles north from Quito. We specialise on trail-rides through the Western Andes since 1995 and therefor are one of the oldest and most experienced horse-ride operators in the country.
Amazing landscapes accompany each of our 1- to 9-day-rides. We invit you to get into contact with the hidden Ecuador, its people and lifestyle, while enjoying your ride on great, lively and very reliable horses.

On our famous 9-day "Cloudforest-to-Highland-Trail" you'll enjoy breathtaking scenery composed by lush green cloud forests as well as desert-like landscapes, deep river canyons and steep mountain slopes, hot sunny valleys and cool windy heights, rolling corn-fields and volcanic avalanches blooming with wild orchids, indian markets and picturesque farming land, tropical wilderness and silent crater lakes. Robust and amiable mountain horses will carry you through the biggest volcanic crater on the whole American continent and one of only two inhabited craters in the world - with its constantly changing sceneries and huge bio-diversity. This is a programme for nature- and adventure-lovers, not afraid of experiencing the outdoors and true back-country life.About the horses: Mainly Creole-Horses, best suited for the difficult mountainous terrain, very sure-footed and with a lot of stamina. Also some other breeds as American Pinto, Paso Fino, Hanoveran, Andalusian and Anglo-Arab for different taste of riders. Some great gating horses. Sizes 1,40m - 1,60m. English and Western tack.|
